Lecturer: Dr. Ming Smith (Atayal)
Assistant Professor in the Department of Ethnic Relations and Cultures. Dr. Smith received her PhD in Sociology from Lancaster University, UK. Drawing on contemporary theories in tourist studies, psychology, architecture, the arts, and human geography, her research has been exploring the relationship between the atmosphere and the tourist experience. She is interested in tourists’ bodily experiences in places of tourism; sensory experiences above and beyond visual phenomena/tourist gaze; cultural festivals and tourist events; and the impacts of tourism on the social and cultural development of Taiwanese Indigenous peoples.
