Congratulations! Dr. Bavaragh Dagalomai Jolan Hsieh Appointed Honorary Advisor to the Asia New Zealand Foundation
Dr. Bavaragh Dagalomai Jolan Hsieh, Director of the Indigenous Peoples International Affairs Center and a professor in the Department of Ethnic Relations and Cultures at National Dong Hwa University, has been appointed as an Honorary Advisor to the Asia New Zealand Foundation by Aoterora New Zealand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Winston Peters.
Dr. Hsieh holds a Ph.D. in Justice Studies from Arizona State University and has extensive experience providing professional services to academia, human rights organizations, and public sector advisory committees.
Dame Fran Wilde, Chair of the Asia New Zealand Foundation Board, warmly welcomed Dr. Hsieh and looks forward to meeting her alongside Minister Peters and other advisors at the biennial advisory meeting in Auckland in March 2025.
In his appointment letter, Minister Peters highlighted that the Asia New Zealand Foundation, established in 1994, aims to enhance New Zealanders’ understanding of Asian countries and cultures while promoting New Zealand’s image in Asia. The Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan organization, primarily supported by the government, as well as private philanthropists and businesses.
The role of an Honorary Advisor is to provide support and advice to the Foundation, contribute expertise, influence, and prestige, and assist in building connections between the Foundation and high-level professionals in their home country and other regions.
