因應總統蔡英文「建立原住民族教育體制」政策，原民會2017年6月委託東華大學執行「國立原住民族大學設立可行性評估」研究案，預計今年10月完成組織規程草案。 計畫主持人、東華大學原民院院長浦忠成指出將以紐西蘭毛利大學為榜樣，目前也已經蒐集國外多所民族大學或學院相關資料，作為原住民族大學的設置參考。 因此，三月下旬，台灣學者跟地方人士組成的參訪團，前往紐西蘭幾個毛利大學參訪，希望做為未來台灣原住民族大學參考跟建置指標。浦忠成院長提到，原住民族大學的設立，需要國家政策支持，好培養出真正符合原住民族群體利益與價值的優秀人才，現在就帶您來了解他們的參訪過程。
