Congratulations to the 2024 Fu-Mei Wu Scholarship awardees! This scholarship, established by generous donors and entrusted to the Center for International Indigenous Affairs of National Dong Hwa University, aims to support research and academic development related to Indigenous peoples.
Awardee Team Members:
- Dr. Sifo Lakaw (Amis): PhD. Department of Ethnic Relations and Cultures at National Dong Hwa University. Currently serves as the chairperson of the Amis Language Promotion and Revitalization Association, with expertise in education, language revitalization, and transitional justice.
- Shau-lou Young (Siraya): PhD candidate in Anthropology at National Taiwan University, specializing in cultural anthropology, decolonial discourse, and Indigenous sovereignty.
- Mulas Ismahasan Islituan (Bunun / Hla’alua): PhD student in the Department of Ethnic Relations and Cultures at National Dong Hwa University. Currently the director of the Education Promotion Division at the Indigenous Languages Research and Development Foundation, specializing in Indigenous political participation, media, audiovisual documentation, and language education.
- Mutulavay Yi-Jen Tu (Ketagalan): PhD student in Adult Education at National Taiwan Normal University, focusing on transitional justice, education, and new media.
- Pisuy Bawnay (Atayal): Master’s student at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand (expected graduation: December 2024), specializing in Indigenous education methodologies, decolonial research methods, and transitional justice.
- Panay Kumod TanaTakisvilainan (Amis / Bunun): Master’s student at Victoria University of Wellington, specializing in international communication, Indigenous tourism, traditional knowledge, and micro-economics.
- Hui-Hsin Wu: PhD student in the Department of Ethnic Relations and Cultures at National Dong Hwa University, with expertise in Indigenous arts economy, tribal history, tribal women and labor, and local revitalization.
